Origin of Turkish bread
Most anthropologists believe that the use of fire to cook food began about 250,000 years ago. But there is no clear evidence yet to determine a timeframe to begin cooking in human history. Perhaps the barbecue - the early kebab - has been around since people knew how to use fire to cook food.
But kebab comes from Arabic which means "fried meat". Today in Turkey, it has a new meaning: barbecue or barbecue on skewers. The reason is that in the previous period, nomadic people grilled meat on their swords. In the late 19th century, a man named keskender Efendi living in Bursa in the Ottoman Empire invented a new kebab: grill meat vertically and eat it with slices of bread. This is the founder of Doner Kebab - Turkish bread famous today.
